RulesThe event will be a Swiss system tournament conducted in accordance with Rapid Chess rules (30 minutes per player, with a 10 second increment). All players must record their moves until the point where players have less than 5 minutes playing time remaining on the clock. Classification will be determined by the sum of individual scores. In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by using team scores, otherwise by using the Buchholz system.
Teams from the same school will not be allowed to play against each other in the last round.
Prizes: cups, plaques and medals. Others prices for players on line by the 30th of September.
1) A combined classification will be given to cities that have a minimum of two teams competing in both the Under-16 tournament and the Under-19 tournament.
2) Classification will be determined by calculating the total number of points scored by individual team members from the two highest scoring teams from each city in both tournaments.
In the event of a tied result, a calculation of the entire team’s score will determine classification. In the event of a further tie, the trophy winner will be determined by using a third classification criteria based on the table position of the teams in question, with 10 points awarded for first place, 7 for second place, 5 for third place, 3 for fourth place and 1 point for fifth place.
the 8th of October: Team registration between 8.30 and 9.00 am. Opening ceremony at 9.30, followed by the Thursday 1st and 2nd rounds. From 3.00 pm, the 3rd and 4th rounds.
From 8.30 am on Friday the 9th of October: 5th, 6th and 7th rounds. The prize giving and closing ceremony will take place at approximately 2.00 pm.
