To celebrate the 2006 Chess Olympiad the National Cinema Museum, as part of the programme at the Massimo Cinema, will present a festival dedicated to films in which the game of chess is featured.
Chess has always fascinated cinema fans, from Chaplin ("The Great Dictator", which will be presented in a restored version) to Bergman (the famous game of chess between Death and the Knight in "The Seventh Seal"), from Welles ("The Lady of Shanghai") to Kieslowski (the first episode in his "Decalogue"), up to the very recent comedy, "The Third Star", featuring popular comedians Ale & Franz.
